Former Minister and Sadbhawana Party leader Shyam Sundar Gupta, who was serving time in Central Jail, Sundhara, has been released on Saturday after he served three years of prison terms.
Following the news of his release, Gupta’s supporters thronged at Central Jail to welcome him.
Gupta, who is a former minister for supplies, was arrested for masterminding the abduction of businessman Pawan Sanghai.
Sanghai, 55, the owner of Arya Pharmaceuticals was abducted on December 22 from the Ganesh Temple at Kamaladi and released in the capital on January 11, after he paid the abductors

The Office of the District Attorney General had sought 17-year jail term provisioned by law for Gupta in the case of kidnapping and holding Sanghai hostage.
